Find off-grid camping spots with landowner permission
The South Downs National Park with its chalk cliffs and rolling hills, the New Forest’s ancient woodland and wild ponies, the desert-like landscape of Dungeness…
There’s so much more to the South East than just London.
So throw your hiking boots in your camper truck or campervan and get exploring.
Thatched cottages and hidden country pubs are par for the course here. And the Surrey Hills and Seven Sister’s cliffs, bordering the English channel, are stunning settings for cycling, walking and epic views.
There are loads of great options for road trips and camping on the wilder side, too.
Wild camping in a campervan or camper truck isn’t allowed in England without the landowner’s permission – including in the South Downs and South East. But you can still find secluded, rural spots with only wildlife for company.
Our friends at Off Grid Camp have rounded up some of the South East’s best off-grid spots, including rural woodland accessed by off-road tracks (that’s where your 4x4 camper truck will come in handy) and private riverside meadows. Pay to stay and you’ll get wild, remote, 4x4 awesomeness – all with the landowner’s permission.
