I got into this with my trusty VW camper, but these trucks are another level.
They deliver on the wildness that campervans and motorhomes can’t quite, but come with comforts that canvas leaves you craving.
Genuinely, I want you to have the best adventure.

Explore in style, from Kendal or Inverness.

Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to our commonly asked questions
Q:

Where can I camp?

A:
Wild camping is allowed in Scotland and Dartmoor, but that doesn't apply to vehicles, so you must always have permission from the land owner and respect signage.

We have partnered with Off Grid Camp, Nearly Wild Camping and Wild With Consent which all have network of privately-owned wild spaces. You pay to stay there, just like you do a campsite, but these locations are proper off grid.

Also, 'Park4Night' and 'searchforsites' are brilliant website / smartphone apps with loads of locations you can stay. It is kept up to date by a community of wild campers and it’d be great if you could contribute / add reviews of the places you stay.

When parked up, treat the surroundings with respect and take all waste away with you. Leave no trace.
Q:

Are there any age restrictions for renting a pick-up?

A:
Yes, the minimum age for renting is 25 and over.
Q:

What is included in the rental price of a pick-up?

A:

Our price includes the rental of the pick-up for two people, insurance, and basic equipment such as cooking utensils, crockery, and cutlery. Outdoor seating is also included.

Optional extras include a trailer and linen.

Q:

Is there a minimum rental period for your pick-ups?

A:

Yes, our minimum rental period is three nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and four nights (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

Q:

Do I need a special licence to drive a pick-up?

A:
No, as long as you have a valid driver's licence for a B1 class vehicle (which is the standard licence for every driver in the UK), you can drive a pick-up.
Q:

Can I take my pet with me in the pick-up?

A:
Of course. One small, well behaved pet is welcome.
Q:

What if I have a breakdown or an accident while using the pick-up?

A:
Insurance and breakdown is included in the cost.

In the event of a breakdown or accident, please contact the emergency number we gave you at the time of rental, and we will provide you with assistance.
Q:

Can I change my rental dates or cancel my booking?

A:

Yes, you can change your rental dates or cancel your booking, subject to our terms and conditions.

Q:

Do I need to bring my own bedding and kitchen equipment?

A:
We provide kitchen equipment. We can also provide bedding as an additional extra.
Q:

Can I pick up and drop off the caravan at different locations?

A:
The trucks are based in Kendal and Inverness.

We will gladly arrange delivery and collection from different locations at a cost of £2 per mile, which needs to be within your hire period.
Q:

Are there any restrictions on where I can take the pick-up?

A:

Yes, there are some restrictions on where you can take the pick-up. Our rental agreement specifies where the pick-up can be used, and we ask that you abide by these restrictions to avoid any damage or issues during your rental period.

Our vehicles have trackers and immobilisers fitted as part of the insurance requirements.

Q:

How much security deposit?

A:
The security deposit is £800, to cover insurance excess and bumps and scrapes that might occur.

We can’t offer a damage waiver - where you pay a small fee to reduce the excess - but have partners with PayPal which offers finance options to help you spread the cost.

We want you to have a wicked time and aim to refund the deposit within 14 days.
Q:

Can I go off road?

A:
Greenlaning is ok. That is, roads which a campervan would struggle on. Please don’t tear up the environment; our insurance won’t cover inappropriate use.
Q:

Are my belongings covered by your insurance?

A:
In some scenarios, but not for your whole trip. We recommend you have out your own insurance.
Q:

What’s included with the camper truck?

A:
  • Plates, bowls and cutlery and utensils
  • Pots and pans, including a ridgemonkey. Have a look at all the things you can cook up in that thing on this YouTube playlist
  • Washing up liquid, fresh sponge and  tea towel
  • Ramps to help you park more level
  • Cable for electric hook up at a campsite if you need it
  • Toilet roll and bin bags
  • Eco shampoo and body wash for the outside shower
  • Camping chairs

We can supply linen for an extra fee.

We also have trailers you van hire for extra storage which fit bikes and paddleboards / surfboards.

Q:

Will I be stung by penalty costs?

A:

We really hope not. Here are some costs that might come out your deposit if things don’t go to plan:

  • £100 cleaning fee. The camper truck needs to be returned as clean as you received it. There’s a valet nearby which costs £50, so please head there there before returning the truck
  • £100 toilet emptying and / or cleaning fee. It’s easy to do and our depot has facilities for you to do it. If we have to do it though, understandably we have to charge
  • £1 per minute running late fee for collection and return. Getting the camper truck ready for the next customer takes time and we need to avoid squeezing that. Return at 10am. Collection at 1pm
  • Damages. We replace like for like + £50 an hour if it’s something time consuming. We charge that same fee for cleaning anything soiled as well.
Q:

How big is the camper truck?

A:
The camper truck is 5m long x 3m tall.
Q:

Do I need permission to project films outside?

A:
Usually, a licence is needed, but we checked with Filmbank media who licence films for outdoor screenings. It confirmed that so long as the content remains for our customer's use and they take reasonable steps to ensure the public don't watch the content, too, then a licnece is not required.
